June in Tuscany is that time of the year when thoughts turn to the anticipation of the coming high summer, an imminent prelude to a new beginning. The JUNE bar unit takes inspiration from this atmosphere of transition, designed to gather friends and family for those moments of conviviality in the open air.
This solid and compact unit evolves the concept of the traditional counter to allow a whole new set of contexts. Originally born as a kitchen intended as a place of creativity and meeting, it is here presented as a totem for mixing and serving drinks, encouraging a dialogue between the host and their guests, centered around the culture of storytelling and the celebration of raw elements.
The symmetry and smooth lines that characterize this project are designed to support a natural, semi-circular workflow. The countertop is divided into two zones that can be individually fitted according to specific needs, providing areas for preparation, the placement of ingredients and tools, washing, and a modulable ice zone. Further possibilities can be achieved by combining multiple units.
JUNE is made of Tuscan travertine found in the region where Vaselli is based. It is a stone which, despite its natural coolness, delivers a warm and delicate feeling. Its idiosyncratic streaks, formed from gradual sedimentation over the millenniums, flow along the sinuous curves of JUNE, fully expressing the beauty and purity of this material, further enhanced by the contrast with the satin-finish stainless steel of the technical components.
June is created by sectioning a block of Becagli Travertine – quarried in the Rapolano basin – into three slabs of different thicknesses, which are worked separately.
The lower slab is used to make the lightened base/plinth. The middle slab forms the body, from which the curved stone doors are then obtained to ensure vein continuity. The countertop with the hollowed-out sink is obtained from the top slab. Finally, the pieces are stacked to reconstruct the original block.
The curved doors follow the welcoming shape of the unit and are lightened to allow an easy opening via the pivot system. JUNE features only water-resistant internal components, allowing it to be placed outdoors even without the protection of a pergola.
The removable stainless steel grid hides a solid stone sink with a pull-out spray head for cleaning after service, while the glacette (ice bucket) is equipped with a modular system that can be configured to suit various needs: champagne station, red wine and sparkling wine station, cocktail station, or a hybrid setup.
Like all Vaselli creations, JUNE is a versatile element that can transform into an outdoor kitchen, a service counter, or more
