Fidia continues its voyage through furnishings and lands in the kitchen with the wall unit and the island.
Nicola Gallizia continues his research into the history and tradition of beauty with his choice of Rapolano Travertine stone. This choice seeks to pay tribute to Italian Architecture, which has used this stone as both a structural and a decorative element since Ancient Rome. As Fidia is entirely covered in this material, it maintains strong architectural connotations to become a small piece of monumental architecture in the home.
The designer's choice of this stone was not purely for aesthetic purposes, but because it represents something timeless. In a world where trends come and go, Fidia has been designed to last both physically and aesthetically.
Travertine, a feature of Italian piazzas, has been introduced into the home without being forced to follow a project. On the contrary, it has been listened to and gently accompanied by stained oak to match the stone's copper shades and contrast with the natural sheet metal hiding the domestic appliances.
Fidia also represents research into shape and solutions.
The typical, timeless cross-section of the leg supports the light, iconic island table, where the sink and the hob – the latter, supported by an iron frame - arise from seat to countertop level.
An additional proposal in the project is a half-height cabinet that is not used to divide the kitchen from the living room. On the contrary, it invites conversation between those in the kitchen and their guests and becomes the ideal centrepiece in the room that could be transformed to a piece of living room furniture on the other side.
