June in Tuscany is that time of the year when feelings turn to the anticipation of the coming high summer as if life were beginning all over again. The JUNE kitchen takes inspiration from this early-summer atmosphere and is meant for friends and family to gather around for those moments of conviviality in the open air.
This solid and compact unit opens up the traditional wall-facing kitchen to allow a whole new set of contexts. It is a kitchen intended as a place of creativity and meeting by allowing communication between cooks and diners that encourages a celebration of food culture.
The symmetry and smooth lines that characterize this project derive from wanting to support a natural circular workflow. The countertop is divided into two zones which can be individually fitted according to a customer's needs providing areas for cooking, washing, or the preparation of ingredients. An arrangement of additional units can provide further possibilities.
JUNE is made of Tuscan travertine found in the region where Vaselli is based. It is a stone that, despite its natural coolness, delivers a warm and delicate feeling. Its idiosyncratic streaks formed from gradual sedimentation over the millenniums flow along the sinuous curves of JUNE and give witness to the beauty and purity of this material.
